Our MIND-BODY WELLNESS program includes offerings in Creative Movement, dance fitness, and a variety of specialty workshops
and classes that focus on self-discovery and empowerment.
Mind-Body practice
can be considered a composite discipline. Certainly, many studies
of arts and athletics can fall under this heading since all of those
activities require a balanced relationship between what the body does
and what the mind is telling the body to do.
The benefits
we try to achieve through our specific programs have to do with heightening
our awareness so that we can achieve our highest level of creative
energy. This energy can then be used to create health, harmony and
peaceful living.
Refer to Current
Schedule to see what is being offered at this time. You may
also wish to arrange a personalized class or workshop for your group
or organization, or as part of your employee wellness program.

Creative Movement Let your inner child come out and
play! This class includes all kinds of movement activities - everything
from freeform dance to meditation and stretching. Lots of interaction,
partner work and group expression. Always a popular class. This
is normally taught in an on-going, weekly class.
Re-Creating the Body This workshop focuses on going
inside our bodies and creating relationship with our selves at a
cellular level. It is a known scientific fact that cells respond
to direction. We learn how to communicate with our body and place
conscious intent on its own intelligent workings. Included are a
range of activities such as guided meditations, feeling internal
movement, body dialogues and more. Taught in a 4-hour workshop.
A Spiritual Approach to Dance A workshop that
explores the very essence of dance: as a means of moving the
spirit. Students learn to follow their instinctive movement,
dance their feelings, and express through rhythmic pulsationsand
the 7 energies of movement. Lots of modern dance technique in this
one. This is normally taught in an on-going, weekly class.

From Marcy Love-Rivas: "There
are many programs for the younger generation, but there is such
a need for the 'young elders' of today. Too many feel that exercise
is only for the young, and are reluctant to don a leotard and jump
into a class and compete with the 'bodies beautiful'. With this
class, you don't have to do this. First, you don't have to wear
a leotard; just something comfortable to exercise in, like shorts,
slacks, or sweat suits... but a good pair of tennis or aerobic shoes
is required. Secondly, each student dances at her own pace. It is
essential that we listen to our own body, and not try to push beyond
our limits. Several of the women in the class are in their 70's
and one is even 86 years young!"
