Have you ever felt you were destined for something more?
Not every job fits into a box.
Not every career was listed on that sheet they gave you in high school.
Not everyone walks the traditional path.
Some people are destined to do the different.
TRAIN TO TEACH BALLROOM DANCING
The ballroom dance industry is as popular now as ever. Whether it’s for social enjoyment or the desire to perform or compete, people of all ages and backgrounds want to get out onto the dance floor. That’s why qualified professionals are always in demand in our industry.
WHY ARE THERE SO FEW BALLROOM DANCE TEACHERS? There are many traditional education programs available for other disciplines of dance (ballet, contemporary, etc), but the craft of ballroom dancing is very specialized. Its exclusivity can be compared to figure skating or martial arts -- training is available only through studios or individuals who specialize in these artforms.
For ballroom dancing, professionals must be trained in a variety of styles ranging from traditional smooth to Latin to swing to country. They must learn the technique, theory, and teaching methods. They must be devoted to ever continuing their training and developing their own dance skills. There is a consistent demand for teachers in the field.
Our studio offers a teacher trianing program exclusive to our studio. We accept applications at any time and conduct interviews 4 times a year. Applicants must be prepared to begin in our Apprenticeship Program and qualify for teacher training from there. One must be available weekday evenings and on Saturdays. Tuition assistance is available. No previous dance experience is required.

Who is a good candidate for a teaching position with our studio?
So many people think the most important requirement for someone wanting to become a
dance teacher is to have a love for dancing. While a love for dancing is important, the love for people is much more important. If your passion is dancing, then dance; but to teach dancing, one must have a genuine love and respect for people of all ages and of all abilities.
Teaching is an artform in and of itself, whether it's teaching dancing or history or math or a sport. To teach requires a genuine desire to lead others to understanding. The focus is on how best to convey knowledge so that it is accessible for everyone. You must have a desire to create that same passion for dancing in others that you have in yourself.
Teaching partner dancing is a REAL TREAT! I get to have a job where there is music and movement and smiles and laughing. I get to share in the great feeling of people coming into the studio feeling tired and worn down from their day and leaving uplifted and happy. I get to constantly learn knew things about dance and enjoy the thrill of my continuing advancement as
a dancer.
But that's just the day to day stuff -- I also get to take my students to competition, perform exhibitions, choreograph routines, and go to parties!
It is true that becoming a ballroom dance teacher requires a certain kind of individual. One
must work hard, be self-motivated and disciplined. Honesty and integrity are key to gaining a reputable name for oneself. It is a career in which one's personal training never ends and so its professionals must be life-long learners.
For the right person, it is a career that will bring many smiles, a wealth of gratification, the warmest feeling of achievement, and the satisfaction of knowing you have made a countless number of people in this life happier, more joyful human beings.
If this sounds like you or someone you know, please consider applying for our exclusive
teacher training program. Sincerely -- Wanda Deagen
